I have a ST3 GPStR who has 3.5m remaining of training and has passed both the AKT and CSA at 1st attempt. ARCP’s have been a bit bumpy over the years but last one was OC1
They were recently suspended by the GMC for 4m because of a drink driving conviction just before starting in the GP Programme in 2010 and a previous Drunk and Disorderly charge in 2008 and then failure to inform the appropriate bodies, i.e. Deanery and GMC
This has been running for quite a while and the GMC only finally decided to suspend them in January 2014 for 4m (with lots of positive caveats about their attitude and behaviour since and support for continuing training), now wishing to return to finish GP training but can’t get Medical insurance with the MDU, MPS or MDDUS.
Can I ask the following
- Who is responsible for deciding if “AN Other” insurance company is appropriate for GP work?? AT, LETB employer ?? other
- Has anyone seen any other company that they have accepted for this??
And yes I know we could have removed his NTN under Section 6:37 e of the Gold Guide, but..................but we decided not to
